New Footpath Gates

New Footpath Gates Installed on Great Ground - June 2023

The three new gates on SMAN3 were kindly installed by the Heavy Gang and Wiltshire Council on Monday 19th June, funded by Wiltshire Council and Sutton Mandeville Parish Council.

Preparations have also been made for a fourth gate to be installed on SMAN7 and two further gates will be installed on SMAN1.

The two-way opening gates allow excellent access over Great Ground Hill along SMAN3 between Panters Road and Rectory Lane.

Sutton Mandeville PC are very grateful for the hard work of the volunteers from the Heavy Gang, the support of Wiltshire Council Rights of Way and Countryside staff Alex Howson and Carys Ford, the landowners and to Claire Cartwright for her tireless work which made this happen.

Update July 2023

Wiltshire Council and the Heavy Gang returned to our Parish on Monday 17th July and not only completed the installation of the final gate on the Great Ground route (SMAN7) but also installed two gates on SMAN1, improving the route along the river for both people and animals.
